Phaos 1870 is a restored winery dating from 1870, set within the protected old castle of Pyrgos, the traditional village at the highest point of Santorini. Restored with close attention to local building traditions, it has become four spacious cave suites, a few minutes’ walk downhill from the village square.
The suites combine Santorini’s distinctive cave architecture with contemporary interiors and modern comforts. Each has a private heated hot tub or pool, and from this height the views take in the sea, the caldera and the volcano.
